The Secrets Akumal beach wedding location is towards the south end of Akumal Bay. The wooden beach pergola is permanent, as is the wooden walkway which provide a wonderful base for as much or as little decor as you choose. Ocean views, established infrastructure, no weather surprises.

Secrets Akumal weddings department schedules up to 2 weddings per day. This grants exclusivity to the Secrets Akumal wedding couple but will make it harder to schedule a specific date. We recommend booking at least 10 months in advance.
Legal Requirements
Same-sex weddings are legal in certain states in Mexico. Almost all wedding resorts in the Riviera Maya welcome gay weddings. The resort celebrates love in all forms.

What's the real cost per person for guests?
Prices start at $286 per person, per night and increase depending on your room. Swim-up suites and ocean views cost more, but every guest gets suite-level accommodations. With our room block, we’ll have special group rates.
Can we customize our package?
Absolutely. You can customize any package to your desires. The on-site wedding coordinator works with you to adjust details.
How far is the resort from the airport?
Just 1 hour from Cancun International Airport, 20 minutes from quaint Playa del Carmen, and a short ride from Tulum village. I like to recommend guests stay for at least 4-5 days minimum for the longer trasnfer.
What about the Preferred Club upgrade?
Upgrade to the Preferred Club level for elevated services, premium locations and exclusive VIP lounge and beach access. The fact that the PC lounge has AC is a good draw in the summer.

We recommend booking at least 10 months in advance, but also consider seasonal factors. Beach events can’t be held during the hatching season around the months of August, September, and October — but garden venues remain available.
Maximize Guest Experience
Guests can enjoy dinner and entertainment at participating Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts. Transportation is not included, and reservations must be made through the concierge. This gives your guests even more dining variety.
Room Strategy
Always email the concierge about a week out and make any room preferences, such as king or high floor or ground floor, near the elevator etc. They always try to accommodate if possible!

Beach Access Logistics
Since 2016, Akumal Bay has been under the direction of PROFEPA and has come up with new rules for Akumal Beach access. Visitors to the beach have to pay around $5 USD per person; Secrets Akumal guests should not have to pay this re-entry fee, so carry around some identifying info which lets officials know you are staying at the resort.

The combination of high level of customer service shown by the wedding department and service staff in general, not to mention the beautiful and well-maintained grounds creates consistently excellent experiences. Although we had plenty of time to plan (two years!) they made the process stress-free! The ceremony was picture perfect and the reception was amazing. The food, service, and accommodations were beyond perfect.
Your destination wedding stress ends here. The second largest barrier reef in the world is 150 meters off the resort’s beach. From the resort’s beach you can swim with turtles, tropical fish and rays. While your guests are snorkeling with sea turtles, you’ll be relaxing knowing every detail is handled.
